A Natural Partnership
TVET institutions are central to Ghana's skills development landscape. They attract students who want to build things, fix things, and work with their hands — precisely the profile that Ghana's expanding renewable energy sector needs. Our visit to New Century Technical Institute was about building the bridge between the training these students are already receiving and the green jobs that are waiting for them.
Our Deputy Executive Director, Lilly Effah, led the session — walking students through the green economy landscape in Ghana, the specific skills most in demand, and the pathways GTS Hub offers to connect training to employment.

What the Students Told Us
The questions from students were sharp and practical. They wanted to know: How much can a solar technician earn? Are there jobs for women in this sector? How do I access the GSEI training? What qualifications do I need?
These are the questions of people who are genuinely interested — not passively listening, but actively planning. We left New Century Technical Institute with a list of students who want to be considered for our next GSEI cohort, and a school that is enthusiastic about establishing a Green Club.
